Sunday September 22nd 1912 I was busy with the work all forenoon. I got some mail ready and went down at 4:15. I went up to the store with it and walked over home. Rob had John out for a long ride. I came to town with Frank Stevens in the Auto and home at 7:30. Talked with Will till bed time. Monday September 23rd 1912 It was a nice day. Will went over to the farm to finish up the pump. I did quite a washing. was busy about home all the afternoon and evening. The girls and John to town. Tuesday [September] 24th 1912 Was busy about home all day. John apparently no worse. Wednesday September 25th 1912 I ironed and did some baking in forenoon. Will cutting weeds and working about the place. I went to town in afternoon but there was such a cold wind did not go over the river. John not well. I paid 50.00 to Dunlap as lumber bill. Thursday September 26th 1912 John had a bad night and they had the Dr early this morning. I did some baking and extra work this morning. Soon after dinner Will & I drove down. John is very sick. They got a [wine?] at supper time. I staid till 9:30. Rob took me to the track. Friday September 27th 1912 Eva called early that John was worse. It was too late for us to get the 7:15 car so we drove down. He was dead before we reached there. We are all much grieved and shocked at his sudden taking away. We came home about two oclock. I stopped at Mary Woolfs for some things I needed. We went back at 7:15 and I staid all night. Hattie and Rob are bearing up bravely. It is such a short time since Mother went away.
