Friday May 1st 1908 I had bread baking but had it all done in time for dinner. I did some sweeping and go up a nice dinner Mother and Ann [Hensler?] cam out at 10.39. It was not a very pleasant day, cold and showery. I walked down to the depot with them at 5.12. I did evening work and read all evening. Will to town this afternoon. Saturday May 2 1908 I was at home all day. I was busy with the care of my little chickens hatching. I have nearly 100 out and set more hens tonight. Will plowed in forenoon but went to town after dinner. I made tatting what spare time I had There was a hard freeze last night. cold all day. Sunday May 3 1908 I was really at work most of the day with the care of my chickens. I read and wrote some. It began to rain jist before night. I set more hens tonight. Lady mare had a fine [more?] mule at noon today. Monday May 4 1908 It rained most of the day. The boys could not do much of any thing I took care of my chickens and made some tatting. I now have nearly 140 chickens out. They are doing all right.
