Saturday August 14th 1909 We reached Portland at 8.30 seeing some pretty scenery after day light. We got our tickets validated and baggage checked so we started on again at 10.10 reaching Centralia at 1.30 and it was raining some. we went directly to Lizzies. She had been ill the night before bus was better. Mary took a sleep and I visited with Lizzie all the afternoon. went to bed early. Sunday August 15th 1909 We did not get up very early and with reading & writing some the day was soon spent. Late in the afternoon Mary Effie Lizzie and I walked to the cemetery and back by the depot to see if our baggage had come It will be brought down tonight. Monday August 16th 1909 Mary did some washing and I some writing in the afternoon and we all went up town. Emily & the children with Mary Briggs went to Seattle on the 1.30 train. we expect to go up on an excursion tomorrow. I had a letter from Will. Tuesday August 17th 1909 We got up early and were ready to start to [Renetee?] on the special that went at seven oclock. Effie and Dorothy went too. It was nearly noon when we got there.
