Sunday January 25th 1874
It took nearly every minute of the forenoon to do up the work and get the dinner started. Mr Schell was here for dinner. Winnie went over to town in the morning and her Father came home with her. It was very cold in the evening I read some and talked with Owen. As he spent the evening in our part of the house.
Monday January 26th 1874
A beautiful day for the time of year and the sleighing is magnificent. I was so busy all day. We put the house all in order and did considerable baking as we expected company at night. When the boys came from school we had the greatest time snowballing. It was pretty rough sport but we all enjoyed it very much indeed. The company we expected came in the evening. Every one seemed to enjoy themselves. And I had a splendid time. It began to rain a little in the night. We danced till after three oclock. I wrote a note to Mr Miller this morning.
