12th Tuesday January 27th 1874 It was very late when we got up this morning. And Winnie did not get up till dinner time. I did a little washing in the morning and regulated the house up. Mother and Hatt put the carpet down in the kitchen and got the dinner. Mother and Winnie went to town in the afternoon. And Winnie staid over all night. I practiced some in the evening. And Owen was in awhile. Wednesday January 28th 1874. Some how we did not get on well with our work the forenoon. Winnie came home this morning. After dinner I went down to Robinsons and stayed till nearly night. We were only through eating supper when a sleigh load of young folks drove up to take us to spelling school. Rob, Hatt, Owen, and I went. And we did have the grandest time ever heard of. The sleighing was splendid and we came back by Coralville. It was after ten oclock when we got home. All thought they enjoyed it.
