49th to the bridge We met Lee coming back with the buggy. I rode home but Winnie walked. In the evening we had a lively game of whist. But Father and Winnie beat us again. Sunday April 26th 1874. It was a very pleasant morning and Hattie and Winnie did intend driving to the valley as they were about ready to start, Dick Given drove up with a carriage to take them a ride. Winnie and him took Hattie to the valley and left her and they got back before dinner. In the afternoon Winnie and I went down to the river. Owen was out in a boat. We walked up past the sand bar. After we came back Winnie went to town. It rained while she was gone. I talked with Owen in the parlor and helped Mother get supper. In the evening I wrote a letter to Lou Sherfey and to a friend in Newark Ohio. I went to bed early. Monday April 27th 1874. It rained nearly all day. I sewed what time I had. And played whist all the evening.
