58th Sunday May 17th 1874. I did considerable house work this morning and then wrote a little before it was time to get dinner. Just as we had dinner nearly ready to put on the table Otto came to the house and said they were making preparations for emersion down by the river. Mother Owen and I went down to see them. As soon as we had eaten dinner Mother and Winnie went to the valley I had a letter from Charlie and wrote to him in the evening. It was late when Mother and Winnie got home. We were just finishing our suppers. Monday May 18th 1874 The first thing this morning I began to clean the parlor. I got it all done today. After supper Winnie and I went to town in the buggy got some samples of wall paper. We played whist all the evening. Owen and I beat three games out of five.
