71st Tuesday June 9th 1874. Still rainy. I sewed all the time I had for I helped do the house-work. I nearly finished a couple of sun bonnets I was at work on. I sewed till nearly eleven oclock at night. Wednesday June 10th 1874. I finished the bonnets this forenoon and cut the scraps that were left into carpet rags. After dinner we put the clothes on the line that Mother had washed Monday and put to soak. Winnie and Mother went to town in the buggy about four oclock and did not get home till supper was ready. After I had finished washing the dishes I began to make me a white skirt. I did not sew on it very long for it stormed terribly all the evening, and I never like to sew when it is lightning. Thursday June 11th 1874. Mother walked over to town this forenoon Winnie went to her music. and that left me sole survivor on the place. I sewed on my
