Thursday July 4th 1905 I ironed this morning and got some dinner. It was a drizzling ugly morning. It cleared some by noon. I went down in the two oclock car. The young folks had company for supper. I helped Hattie some. There was fire works down at Otts. There was an accident on the car line so Will came for me in the buggy. Two cars collided near Swishers and two men were killed and a number hurt. Willie came on another car and was all right. Wednesday July 5th 1905 I got my morning work done and ready to go {to} Cedar Rapids on the ten oclock car with Mother, Aunt Ellen & Lib Stevens and Nellie. She staid up there. We were entertained by the Parvis and had a very pleasant visit. We came home on the 6:30 car. Went to bed early. Thursday July 6th 1905 I worked in the fruit the greater part of the day. I made Raspberry jelly and jam. I sewed some in afternoon. I did not feel at all well. a spell of indigestion. Friday July 7th 1905 I made jelly and did baking in forenoon. I went as far as Marys with Will in afternoon. She was just going away so I made a call at Mrs Bostwicks and went to town with her. I had such a nice afternoon. Did evening work, went to bed early.
