Tuesday July 18th 1905 I did my ironing this morning and washed out a few extra things. The boys put up more hay today and Will cut more. We went to town in afternoon. I wrote Joe again. We were at Woolfs twice. Earnest died at 10:30 oclock this morning. We went back after an early supper and while there they brought Earnest in his casket. Poor Earnest. What a fate. What a mistake not to let those people settle their own troubles. The man gave himself up. Wednesday July 19th 1905 I baked a cake to take down to Mary, baked bread, did a little more ironing and got our dinners. Earnest funeral was to be at three oclock. We went down early. He was so well known and well liked that there was an immense crowd. They buried him at the Scott cemetery. We went to the east side of town, came back to Marys awhile and home. The boys put in more hay this afternoon. Thursday July 20th 1905 I was very busy with the work all forenoon. My dinner was quite a good deal of work. The boys finished shocking the oats today. I went down in afternoon took Mother to the reception for the Barrets at Mrs [Coart?] and Nellie came home with me. She had company in the evening and I was over to Mrs Kosers a little while. weather cooler.
