Thursday December 20th 1906 I was up early and had a very busy day. I did some ironing and baked bread & cake. Will did a big churning for me. I worked the butter and got it ready. I dressed a chicken to take to Vene. Jennie came with Helen just before supper. I fried chicken for supper and in the evening marked my presents and got my things ready to pack. Took a bath and went to bed early. Friday December 21st 1906 We did not get up so very early. Soon as we had breakfast I got ready. Will went with me down town on the 9.37. We met the girls at the store. I was changing a pocket I had gotten for a purse. We walked down to the depot. Will did not wait for the train. I had a pleasant ride to R.I. Only 15 minutes wait. A fine trip to Peoria and in a half hour started to Delavan. Reached there at 6.09. Stella met me at the depot. A few moments walk brought is to Venes where a warm supper awaited us. We were eating when Jim and Edith came in. She had finished her term of school that day. After supper we visited till early bed-time. The weather has turned colder. It is a great pleasure to meet the friends here.
