Saving...
Monday December 5th 1898 We passed a sad and fearful night with Edith. She coughed and labored so for breath. None of the watchers slept at all. We thought about three oclock she was dying and sent for Fanny and the Dr. By five oclock she was more comfortable and we did not wake the rest of the folks. She was less restless during the day and I was down stairs part of the time helping with the work. There were some callers in the afternoon. Aunt Emma still here. Fanny was so worn out she consented to go home and I went with her and went to bed. Tuesday December 6th 1898 Will came for me this morning. He brought Lib Stevens up to stay with Fannys children. I bid Edith a good by not expecting to find her alive when I would come back. We got home by noon. I put in all the afternoon and till late bed-time getting things ready to go back tomorrow. Wednesday December 7th 1898 Went directly home soon after breakfast. Found Edith still alive. She had grown quiet and weaker. Will did not come back till after dinner and Lib Stevens came with him. I was with Edith part of the afternoon and most of the night. Lou Foltz was with us. Thursday December 8th 1898 There was little change in Edith today except she is growing weaker. I was with her some today when not busy with the work. Ida & Nellie came last night. I slept till nearly three oclock when Aunt Em called me
