39 For a Cold Take a pound of raisons of ye sunne and stone them 4 ounces of white sugar and beate them in a morter of stone and cast in some fine Licorice powder -- and half a spoonfull of rose water and then it will be like a marmelade and eat it at sundry times To make a man piss if cannot Take a quart of Renish wine and a piece of Venice soape as much as a walnut and seeth them well together from a quart to a pint then drink it Against plague or pestilence Take [measurement] of powder Imperiall a dram of [illegible] and of dragon water and sorrell water of each one ounce and drink it with ale in the morning fasting
