An Eulegy on ye death of Frances Smith ye wife of Dr. Smith who departed this life Jan the 16th, 1749
Ye sacred muses wait on me to weep 
and Let youre solemn sighs like mine be deep
for [dishing?] ye instrument of fate
did on a sadden ties from me translate
She was a pattern of true constance--
yt the companion for ye just might be - 
[?endued] she was with honnesty and Love
to gain ye Joy laid up for her above...
all pride contemnd and vanity did hate .. 
as sins obnoxious to a blessed state .. 
was I to count her vertues by her years
ye greater humbled in ye first appears
and she has ended her most fragrant breath
to Live in Endless blessings after death
her Loss I nevr can to much lament ...
because Im Left in greif and discontent
but when I think my Loss to her is gain...
my [muse?] from such great sorrows shall restrain
what [illegible] her body lies among ye dead
her soul is in Elijahs Chariot flead
