2nd parlor helped do up the work, I did think I would sew some but came to the conclusion that I was too tired got my portfolio and wrote a letter to my Cousin Mrs Anna Gilbert in Elyria Ohio the first letter I wrote in 1872 the last one last year was to Lou Reeves written Dec 31st 1871. I wonder who I will write to last this year time only can tell. Did not get to bed very early, hope I will feel better tomorrow. Wednesday, Jan 3rd 1872 Am feeling very much better today taught school we had quite an excitement over there some of the children while sliding down the hill came in collision no one seriously injured. Mother was to town today did not get any letters sewed some this evening and went to bed early. Thursday Jan 4th 1872 Taught school today was over to Fletchers a few minutes in the morning I promised the children a spelling school tonight when I got home from school I found Grandma and pa here were going to stay all night also Uncle Robert Walker. After supper us children all went to spelling school there was only a few there a complete failure in fact after I came home we played cards awhile. Hattie invited Mrs Huebner over but he did not come.
