4th Sunday Jan 7th 1872 Did not go to church this morning we did not get up very early as it took all the forenoon to do up the work Mother was over to Folsoms awhile after dinner I read awhile and then dressed up about four oclock Mr Huebner came over we went to the M E Church but the church we so full we could not get in we then went down to the Christian Church. Mr Williams preached about how Jesus was led up in the wilderness to be tempted. The weather is pleasant. Monday Jan 8th 1872 Went to school about eight oclock this morning had four new scholars from Coralville today. Hattie did not go to school her and mother did a two weeks washing went to town after school. Mollie was here a few moments this evening I wrote some after supper and went to bed early as I was tired and sleepy, has been a beautiful day done up a book to send to Jim Mason it is a Masonic monthly edited by my Cousin E.P. Byington in St Lois. Two years ago last night since we had our private theatricals out to Fletchers.
