61st Thursday May 16th 1872 It has rained nearly the whole day they could not get much done at the house I did the ironing and Charlie and I measured and cut the new carpet while Mother got the dinner it matched splendid After dinner Mother and I sewed some on it Mr Huebner and Mr Palmer were here for supper Charlie went back to town with them. Mr Palmer stayed all night with us he says he has not seen Pete since he left Newark. Friday May 17th 1872 Mr Huebner was over this morning and Mr Palmer rode back to town with him Before we had got the dinner over Mrs Middleton came over she helped us sew on the carpet. While Mother and I got the supper she took a ride in Lee's [bolly?] gig I attended society tonight with Mr H_. A pleasant day and a lovely evening. Mr Ogden grained the parlor this afternoon.
