88th Sunday August 4th 1872 It rained nearly all the forenoon Charlie and Mr Huebner went down the river and did not get back till dinner was ready Laura was over awhile in the afternoon Did not attend church tonight Monday August 5th 1872 I felt hardly able to sit up today Hattie did the washing all alone Mother went to town in the afternoon and I tried to sew some I got the supper nearly ready by the time she came home Winnie Given was here this evening. It looks very much like rain. Tuesday August 6th 1872 I went to town with Laura this morning I took over some work to Mrs Ogle. Met Mr H_ took a dish of ice-cream and promised to take a ride with him this afternoon. We started about three oclock and drove up to the Boat-House; it is a lovely spot. We then went to the valley staid till after supper and did not get home till almost bed-time Mr Huebner gave me a large picture of himself to take with me.
