173rd Wednesday May 21st 1873 I finished papering the kitchen before dinner and in the afternoon Mother put the carpet down and the stove in. I cut the new carpet and sewed some on it and worked on it after supper till eleven oclock. Oh but I was tired. Thursday May 22nd 1873 I finished sewing the carpet and got things out of the sitting room before noon As soon as dinner was over I was washed out a few things and Hattie was at home from school today so her and I cleaned the front room up stairs We put the old brussels carpet down on that floor. Friday May 23rd 1873 Took things out of the girls room up stairs and cleaned the room and put them all back again by noon. And in the afternoon put down the new carpet in the sitting room. Had a letter from Cousin Mattie and a note from Mr Huebner. He had returned to Iowa City and called tonight. The young folks all went to society. Saturday May 24th 1873 Hattie and I cleaned the parlor and bed room today. I helped do the baking
