For a sore throat Mrs Uhthoff Take a quart of Vinegar & 2 oz of Myrrh boil them well together. slowly for 1/2 an hour then put the Liquid in a teapot let the mouth of the patient be placed over it so that the hot vapour shall ascend to the throat places let this be renewed every 1/4 of an hour till the cure is effected. For the toothache Take a sheet of [Toalrap?] paper & roll it up tight then light it at one end when it has burnt about 3 quarters of the length of the roll a few drop of oil appear at the end let them drop on Cotton & be put on to the tooth Mr. Farnis Gargle for sore throat Dr. Pape a wine glass of port wine 2 Do Sage tea 1 Do Lemon juice one table spoonful of honey Soda water Mr. Gulharty Carbonate of soda 35 gram Partaric acid 30 Do For Bruises when the skin is broken Equal parts of Brandy Vinegar & Cold water wet a piece of linen rag & when dry wet it again Mr. Long an Embrocation for Sprain & Bruises Spirits of Wine 2 oz Spirits of Turpentine 2 ozr old vernice 2 oz Camphor 1 oz sweet oil 1 oz all to be well mixed together Mrs. Nelson For Teething Drachms of prepared Coral in powder 20 drop of lemon juice mixed up with honey to a thin paste to be Rubbed on the Infants gums Mrs. Uhthoff Strengthening Aperiens 1/2 oz of Gentian root or Columba root put it into one pint & 1/4 of Water after you have cut it in pieces & pressed it well with 1/2 oz of Senna leaves well picked from the stalks stew & Simmer it well till it is reduced to 3/4 of a pint then strain it off & take a wine glass full every morning fasting. Mrs. Milligan For the yes[illegible] 1 Teaspoonful of Eau de Cologne 1 desert spoonful Vinegar wine glass ful of hot water to be used 2 or 3 times a day Dr. Bonaigon
