May, FRIDAY 1, 1863. I wrot a letter to Father & Mother to da, got a letter Augey Kerr Dated March 29th and got one from David Dated March 30th [illegible] marching orders for lou. SATURDAY, 2. started south ward to day I got 2 letters from Jane one from David 2 from S. G. Henderson, 1 from Little Harriet H. & Lucretia H. 1 from D. Stone. Camped to night 8 miles from Duckport SUNDAY, 3. We underwent the most fatigueing march we ever done, Hundreds of our Division gave out from Heat & over marching. Camped for the night at Charleston all very tired & sore (Vertically over last entry:-) Henry C. Smith died of Small Pox at Millikens Bend
