Camp on Bear Creek Miss. August SATURDAY, 8, 1863. Recd. a letter from D. B. H. with [slips?] inclosed from Mother & Aleck to Him Wrote a letter to Jane with $2.00 inclosed. Wrote one to D. B. Henderson SUNDAY, 9. Bathed in Bear Creek. Edgintons Resignation accepted and He started Home. Major Stibbs Comd. Regt. I am reading Guy Mannering one of Scoots Novels Remarkeably Warm Weather MONDAY, 10. Reading Walter Scoots Works, also some late Papers. So that my time is all occupied by my Regular Duty, the study of Tacticts, Reading & Writting so that I have no time for the Blues
