Violet Lea October, THURSDAY, 1, 1863. I was Taken with very violent pains all along the Left side. Left arm useless & I cannot speak. Jane & I went to Rockford & I got a certificate for extention of Furlough from J. B. Lyman U. S. Surgeons for Pensions. (Vertically over entry:-) Got a letter from G. L. Henderson and one from D B Henderson FRIDAY, 2. Suffering very severely with Neuraralgia or Inflamatory pain so that I am Helpless. Jane Caught a severe Cold last night when Doctoring me SATURDAY, 3. The Ague and fever left when I was Taken with this painfull Disease. Jane is quite un well. I was able to sit up in a chair & write some to David, & coppy certificate (Vertically over entry:-) Sent off Certificate of disability to day got County Seal per clerk as certifying to the Doctor's standing.
