Violet Lea Farm October, SUNDAY, 4, 1863. I wrote a few lines to George L. Henderson. Jane wrote to Mother Henderson. I am not gaining any yet. Father Durno went to Meeting 5 miles Distant ,Rainy Weather, MONDAY, 5. I have to be Helped out and in to Bed on account of the very accute pain in my side. Sitting up in Rocking Chair most of the day. TUESDAY, 6. gaining very slow, pain very severe yet and I feel very much prostrated and weak and Cannot talk or move. Jane still applys the commpress & wet bandages to the pain
