on Illois Central R. R. November, MONDAY, 30, 1863. Started from Dunleth 4 P. M. yesterday Reached Cairo 4 P. M. to day. got order for transportation & took passage on the steamer Fanny Ogden for Memphis December, TUESDAY, 1. had a very unpleasat night as I have deck passage, No snow, or frost But the wind is cold and raw, the Boats crew are nearly all Black men WEDNESDAY 2. I Reached Memphis this morning at 3 oclock and put up at Soldiers Lodge, wrote a letter to Jane. Cannot go to Regiment untill tomorrow, found Capt Warner very sick in Hospital. went to Theatre
