Chewalla Tennesee December, WEDNESDAY, 9, 1863. our Regiment Commenced to strenthen the stockade by throwing up earth works around it. 8 men of Co "C" detailed for that purpose to day. I wrote a letter to C. Kerr THURSDAY, 10. Reading the N. Y. Independet and other papers, when not on duty. The 12th Iowa had a Ball tonight. some of the Girls of the Neighborhood were present also Mrs Vanduzee FRIDAY, 11. Read the story of Kent the Ranger. 8 men for fatigue work on the fort & 6 for gaurd from Co "C Lieut Small Co F is Chief Engineer of 12th Iowa
