5 Chewalla Tennessee January 5th 1864 Tuesday I Helped to get in fire wood this forenoon. Oour Regiment was mustered into the U. S. Service for three years or during the war by Lieut Mayer of the 13th Regiment of Regulars We are now the 12th Iowa Veterans. The weather is very cold - with Hard frost for this place
