18 Chewalla Tennessee January 18th 1864 Monday I gave a lesson to Edward B. Scott a Collored Man. He is learning very fast and like a great many negroes is very anxious to learn. I Read a story in Gleasons Pictorial. I loaned 30 cents to Lawrence Lott. We signed the Pay Rolls this evening I played a few games of Euchre today. Very blustery with some snow
