26 On train for Memphis January 26th 1864 Tuesday Our Regt. Evacuated Chewalla & Burned the Barracks last night. Started for Memphis at daylight. the train that Came up for us was fired on & the Engineer Killed near Midleton. We got to Memphis at sundown all Right. Slept in the Depot tonight
