38 Black River Bridge Miss. Feby 7th 1864 Sunday Sunday inspection at 8 oclock A. M. got shaved by Black Ed. for 10 cents. got my last weeks washing 4 pieces from Black Miss Sally 20 cents. Went to Hear a sermon this afternoon by 8th Iowa Chaplain I wrote a letter to Father & Mother sending $5.00 to pay for a Hog I got for pork. Recd. a letter from Jane giving an account of Soldier Ball & sociable
