47 Black River Miss Feby 17" Tuesday 1864 Had Battalion drill in forenoon & Brigade Drill afternoon and then Battalion drill again, in all about 5 Hours. Col Geddes seems to be very anxious to have the Brigade well drilled. Bought two oranges for 25 cents. We get 2/3 Ration of soft Bread & the Rest Hard tack Co "C" on Picket today near Black River
