49 Black River Miss Feby 18th 1864 Thursday I wrote to Jane today Informing Her of my Re-enlisting. I have Hitherto Refrained from telling Her in Hopes of being sent Home when I could do it far better verbally. But our present expedition makes that plan impractible so have told all & the Influences bearing on my conduct
