65 Vicksburg Miss March 5th 1864 Saturday Marched within the outer Fortifications at Vicksburg & went into Camp near the cemetary, in the big Ravine to await further orders. I went out with Lieut D W Reed to the Battlefield near our field of operations last autumn & picked up some Trophies of the siege. Very warm & pleasant weather.
