67 Vicksburg Miss March 7th 1864 Monday I went over and saw James Henderson yesterday & spoke to His Colonel & Captain about His transfer to our Regt. and found them all very willing to allow it iff possible. We Receved a special order from Hurlbut today sending us to our state for 30 days we marched down to the River & went on board the Minehaha with the 8th Iowa
