75 On a Sand Bar Miss River March 15th/64 Tuesday We are still fast on the Bar. The men were landed and the day was spent in fruitlss efforts to get off. a Transport and a gun Boat tried to pull us off, the men pulled with Ropes on shore. But all failed, & a dispatch was sent to Cairo for a Boat to take us off. we are out of Rations & 700 men on Board. I wrote to Mr Durno today. Very Cold
