138 Davenport Iowa May 17th 1864 Tuesday I got a pass to Town today where I spent the afternoon & found D.B. Henderson when the Dubuque Packet Came down I stoped with Him at the Burtis House all night. His prospect for Colonel of the 44 Iowa Regt. 100 days service is very good. He had an enterview with the Governor Stone adjt Baker &c
