185 La Grange Tennessee July 3d 1864 Sunday Had a general Inspection of arms by Lt Col Stibbs. the Recruits had rather dirty guns with a few exceptions. We had a very good sermon by our Chaplin Mr Humphrey. He Reported for duty June 22d He seems to be a very good man, as well as a learned one. I wrote a letter to Jane. I had a visit from Warren Clough to night
