189 On the march in Miss July 7' 1864 Thursday We marched 10 miles or to within 5 miles of Riply. we saw many signs of the late disaster under Sturgis such as the skeletons of men unburied which had been left to be devoured by Hogs & rot exposed in the sun. Our Cavilry entered Ripley driving a Brigade of Rebels out. Intensely Hot.
