190 Near Ripley Mississippi July 8th 1864 Friday Marched 11 miles to day & camped 5 miles beyond Ripley. There is 2 Division. of the 16th Corps Here the 1st & 3d. Gen Mower has the 1st & Col. Moore the 3d - there is also a Div of Cavilry and 2 Regts of Colored Troops all under Brig. Gen C. J. Smith I get along very poorly this season the march is very Hard on me. I went & saw James Henderson last night. He gets on fine
