Tupello Miss July 14th 1864 Thursday Early this morning the Enemy advanced & scracely had our Brigade got in position. when they attacked us in force, the 12th Iowa became first engaged Repulsing the first Charge of the enemy with great loss. our loss was 8 Killed & 50 wounded, sergts Clark & Stewart & J. W. McCall were wounded, Clark suposed mortaly.
