Selma Ala May 26" 1865 Friday I was Detailed and Thrust on Duty as Fitist officer of the guard, and being the ranking officer of Two on Duty, I got posted on the Cahaba Road quite Convenient to our Camp. the day passed of finely as the weather was Cool and pleasant after the shower last night. I had Two men arrested and sent to Hd. Qurs. for being disguised as citizens and driving through the lines in said guise, in a fine Carriage Drawn by Govt mules. and accompanied by very flashy Ladies they belonged to No 35" Iowa and 33d Iowa & on duty in 1st Div Minn
