23 Selma Ala June 4th 1865 Sunday Commenced a reading of the Bible from the begining, and read several Chapters Carefully in Genesis. Continued the reading of Napoleons Marshals read Lannes, Mcdonald. Moncey, Soult and Murat, and they present the most wonderfull Combination of Genius, Character, and Iresistable power the World has Ever seen. The Pay Masters have arrived and our Rolls have this day been forwarded for His Inspection for the months of Jan, & February / 65, The Resident Preachers are now opening their Churches every Sunday, But their tardy profession of Loyalty nearly Chokes them
