24 Selma, Ala June 5th 1865 Monday I was Detailed for Officer of the Picket Guard. Mounted at 8 oclock & was the ranking officer and got the Post near Camp on the Cahaba Road. Mr Robb a Scochman in Co. "I" 12th..Iowa Died yesterday and dying He accused the Dr's Underwood & Huff of Causing His death by draging Him from New Orleans, Dauphin Island, and Spanish Fort when He was a fit Subject for a Hospital instead of being able for duty in a severe Campaign. He willed all His Bounty and pay to the Solders Orphan asylum of Iowa, and His real Estate to His Friends.
