2 Jackson Miss July 2d 1865- Sunday Recd transportation for Meridian and left this morning. and passing over the field of Brands which has not been cultivated since 1865. Arrived at Meridian this evening and stoped at Jonis House, where I had a very serious time with bed bugs who seem to live move and have a being but such a being & such countless hosts. The returning Rebel soldiers are crowding every train in every direction
