15 Selma Ala, July 12" 1865 Wedensday Joe Allen our Black Boy got indolent and indiferent about His work. and we dismissed Him paying Him $10 per month for 2 1/2 months work besides extra Clothing. I gave Him a pass to [We?] turnpike Ala, where His Mother lives. George Brown Hired Henry a Colored man for $7,00 per month. The Colored folks especialy the men are very indolent, and the women are teribly Corrupt, the result perhaps of a life of Slavery. but they as a people need to be Controled
