26 Selma Ala July 19" 1865 Wedensday I was Detailed as Officer of the Provost Guard, and went on Duty at 8 A.M. was kept very bussey as there was Considerable Disorderly Conduct amongst the Citizens & Soldiers, Several arrests made for Larceny, I made out Requisition for Rations to prisoners 4 Soldiers & 19 Citizens in Guard House. We discovered a plot amongst the prisoners to Escape but foiled it by doubling the Guard at night. Theatre in our Guard Room at night.
