34 Selma Ala July 25" 1865 Tuesday I wrote a letter to D. B. Henderson Dubuque Iowa, Went on Duty as Officer of Provost Guard. Capt Bremner in Command. 6 Soldier 47" Ill. Consigned to Prison, and one Negro The Cotton Stealing Mania is raging fearfully, and some one or other is in trouble Continualy, and our Patrol Guard is Constantly on the move Keeping order. I [recovered?] of R. D. Williams Co, C, Cash $40.00 & gave note for Rect Amt. 72d Ill 9" Min & 33 Wisconsin arrived here on the way Home
