44 Selma Ala. Aug 3d 1865 Thursday I made recommendation for the promotion of Corpl F. W. Moine to 5"Sergt. and J. W. Bysong to 5" Corpl. the vacancy Caused by the mustering out of Sergt Clark. Mail to night. I Recd one letter from Jane, and at Home may begin to wish I belonged to some other Iowa Regt more fortunate in getting Home than the 12th. James Henderson quite sick to day with Chill & fever. Capt. Reed Came in a visit from Demopolis. (Vertically, at left:-) wrote a letter to George Henderson
