51 Selma Ala Aug 7' 1865 Monday Mailed letters to Mrs. Henderson & George Henderson. fever & ague still increasing No Medicine furnished by the U.S. I was Called on by Major Knee for $25.00 Regt fund to [buy?] quinine for the men. I gave Him the funds the quinine was bought, and the men are eating it so as to enable them to stave of fever, so that they Can Continue to watch over and protect the Arrogant therebuy
