46 Selma Ala Aug 20" 1865 Sunday I was Detailed Officer of Provost Guard. onely one Officer in charge of Guard now which will extend the intervals of duty. City very quiet to day. Saloons all Closed & the Sabbath has at least the semblance of respect paid to it. I received by mail tonight one letter from Mrs. C. J. Henderson one from D. B. Henderson & one from Miss Bell Henderson all going well in Iowa and eager for the return of the Solders
